Latar Belakang dan Pendidikan

Prof. Associate Dr. Wan Nazjmi Bin Mohamed Fisol was born in Kampung Pulau Tengah, Pendang, Kedah Darul Aman on April 26, 1977. After graduating from Maktab Mahmud, Alor Setar high school in 1997, he continued his studies to a Bachelor of Shariah degree at Universiti Al -Azhar, Egypt until 2001. After that he continued his studies for a second Bachelor’s degree in the field of International Business (Finance & Banking) at MSU until 2006. He then received a Master’s Degree in Economics (Finance & Banking) from UUM in 2010 and a Doctorate Philosophy in Islamic Finance and Banking from UniSHAMS in 2015.

Career

He started his career as a lecturer at UniSHAMS starting in 2006 at Kulliyyah Muamalat and also under the Center for Islamic Finance Studies and Research (CIFER), UniSHAMS. While at UniSHAMS, he has held several important administrative positions including as Deputy Dean of Kulliyyah Muamalat, Dean of Kulliyyah Muamalat and Director of the Academic Management Center. He has also served as the Director of the Graduate Management and Research Center as well as serving as the Deputy Rector of Alumni Student Affairs. His last position at UniSHAMS was as Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and International Affairs. Now he holds the position as Rector/Chief Executive of the Islamic College of Technology International (KITAB) Penang from 01 December 2023 until now.

Experience and Presentation

As an Academic member, he was also appointed as an academic advisory panel for several institutions outside. Among them are as MQA Assessment Panel, External Examiner in the Field of Islamic Management, Faculty of Business Management and Professional Learning (MSU), External Examiner Panel of Education & Social Science Cluster (OUM), Senior Academic Fellow of Baitulmal Professional College (KPB) and Technical Advisor for Business Management Diploma , Sungai Petani Vocational College 2.

Since 2006 until now, he has actively presented working papers, delivered lectures in various seminars, symposiums and workshops both at the national and international levels. Among the titles of his presentations are “The Engineering of Islamic Legal Opinion (Ijtihad) On the Maqasid Al-Shari’ah Development in the Assessment of Islamic Financial Products”; “Maqasid Shariah in Corporate Social Responsibility of Shari’ah Compliant Companies”; “Enhancing halal sustainability through Maqasid Shariah framework in Malaysian Islamic public equity funds” and “Financial Technology (FinTech) Services: Analysis from the Perspective of Maqasid Al-Shariah”.

He is also actively involved in the field of consulting and community in the country and abroad. This includes being a member of the Islamic Economics & Finance research cluster under YADIM, a member of the waqf research cluster under the Penang Island State Mufti Department, an editor for the International Journal of Zakat and Islamic Philanthropy (LZNK) and an editor for the Emerald-Scopus Journal.

Until now, he has successfully produced almost 45 students either at the Master’s Degree level or at the Doctor of Philosophy Degree level. As an Academician, his expertise and specialization is in the field of Maqasid Shariah, Fiqh Muamalat, Social Finance and Islamic banking.

Latar Belakang dan Pendidikan

Prof. Madya Dr. Wan Nazjmi Bin Mohamed Fisol dilahirkan di Kampung Pulau Tengah, Pendang, Kedah Darul Aman pada 26 April 1977. Selepas menamatkan pengajian di peringkat sekolah menengah Maktab Mahmud, Alor Setar pada tahun 1997, beliau telah melanjutkan pengajian ke peringkat Ijazah Sarjana Muda Shariah di Universiti Al-Azhar, Mesir sehingga 2001. Setelah itu beliau menyambung pengajian bagi ijazah Sarjana Muda kedua dalam bidang Perniagaan Antarabangsa (Kewangan & Perbankan) di MSU sehingga tahun 2006. Seterusnya menerima Ijazah Sarjana Ekonomi (Kewangan & Perbankan) dari UUM pada tahun 2010 dan Ijazah Doktor Falsafah dalam bidang Kewangan dan Perbankan Islam dari UniSHAMS pada tahun 2015.

Kerjaya

Beliau memulakan kerjaya sebagai pensyarah di UniSHAMS bermula pada tahun 2006 di Kulliyyah Muamalat dan juga di bawah Pusat Pengajian dan Penyelidikan Kewangan Islam (CIFER), UniSHAMS. Semasa di UniSHAMS Beliau telah memegang beberapa jawatan penting pentadbiran termasuk sebagai Timbalan Dekan Kulliyyah Muamalat, Dekan Kulliyyah Muamalat dan Pengarah Pusat Pengurusan Akademik. Beliau juga pernah menjalankan tugas sebagai Pengarah Pusat Pengurusan Siswazah dan Penyelidikan serta menjalankan tugas Timbalan Rektor Hal Ehwal Pelajar Alumni. Jawatan terakhir beliau di UniSHAMS ialah sebagai Timbalan Naib Canselor Hal Ehwal Akademik dan Antarabangsa. Sekarang beliau memegang jawatan sebagai Rektor/Ketua Eksekutif Kolej Islam Teknologi Antarabangsa (KITAB) Pulau Pinang bermula 01 Disember 2023 sehingga kini.

Pengalaman dan Pembentangan

Sebagai ahli Akademik beliau turut dilantik sebagai panel penasihat akademik bagi beberapa institusi di luar. Antaranya adalah sebagai Panel Penilai MQA, Pemeriksa Luar Bidang Pengurusan Islam, Fakulti Pengurusan Perniagaan dan Pembelajaran Profesional (MSU), Panel Pemeriksa Luar Kluster Pendidikan & Sains Sosial (OUM), Senior Felo Akademik Kolej Profesional Baitulmal (KPB) dan Penasihat Teknikal Diploma Pengurusan Perniagaan, Kolej Vokasional Sungai Petani 2.

Sejak 2006 sehingga kini, beliau aktif membentang kertas kerja, menyampaikan syarahan dalam pelbagai seminar, symposium dan bengkel samaada di peringkat kebangsaan maupun di peringkat antarabangsa. Beliau turut giat terlibat dalam bidang perundingan dan komuniti dalam dan luar negara. Ini termasuklah sebagai ahli kluster penyelidikan Ekonomi & Kewangan Islam di bawah YADIM, ahli kluster penyelidikan wakaf di bawah Jabatan Mufti Negeri Pulau Penang, editor bagi International Journal of Zakat and Islamic Philanthropy (LZNK) dan editor bagi Journal Emerald-Scopus.

Sehingga kini beliau telah berjaya melahirkan hampir seramai 45 orang pelajar samaada di peringkat Ijazah Sarjana maupun di peringkat Ijazah Doktor Falsafah. Sebagai seorang ahli Akademik, kepakaran dan pengkhususan beliau adalah di dalam bidang Maqasid Shariah, Fiqh Muamalat, Kewangan sosial dan perbankan Islam.
