Diploma in Syariah

The aim of the Diploma in Shariah is to equip students with sufficient knowledge in Islamic Studies in general and knowledge in the field of Shariah specifically. This programme aims to give students an understanding of how Shariah scholars analyse and solve issues in society by showing a correct understanding of how to apply knowledge gained from the fields of Shariah. Students are also able to do fact-finding on Shariah issues to enhance the understanding of Islam in the local community. This programme focuses on researching the laws on the behaviour of Muslims in the lives of individuals and society through two main dimensions, namely Fiqh and Usul Fiqh. Fiqh is a study of rulings that is derived from legal sources, while Usul Fiqh is a methodological study of ruling from legal sources. The programme also focuses on the integration of Shariah knowledge with the field of law and finance by offering elective courses.
Duration of study
Study course for 6 semesters (2 years)
Entry requirements
- Have a Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) with at least three (3) honors in any subject
- Pass the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 3 MQF in a related field and have an SPM with at least honors in one (1) subject and through a strengthening program (if necessary); or
- Pass a Community College Certificate equivalent to MQF Level 3 in a related field and possess SPM with at least honors in one (1) subject and through a strengthening program (if necessary); or
- Passed a certificate (MQF Level 3) in a related field with at least a CGPA of 2.00; or
- Pass STPM or equivalent by getting at least Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in one (1) subject; or
- Pass STAM (Maqbul rank); or
- Other recognized equivalent qualifications.
